After months of flight bans, Lufthansa and Swiss Airlines are finally flying to Beirut again – and it happened without any announcement.
Since October 2023, the airlines have suspended all flights to Lebanon due to the war, extending the suspension several times. Just last month, they announced an extension to the suspension until mid-September 2025.
But now, flights suddenly popped back up on their websites. This was confirmed by several of our community members who booked their flights to Lebanon on those airlines.
A source confirmed to 961 that flights resumed earlier than expected because of a noticeable improvement in the situation – right on time for the summer rush.
Lufthansa is now showing almost daily flights from Frankfurt to Beirut, with round-trip tickets starting around $900. Swiss Airlines, part of the Lufthansa Group, has also reopened routes from Zurich, with round-trip fares as low as $835.
Lufthansa is Germany’s largest airline and one of Europe’s biggest when you count its subsidiaries, among which are Swiss and Austrian Airlines. So, its quiet return to Lebanon is a big signal that travel is picking back up.
Looks like summer in Beirut is officially back on!
