Beirut Just Introduced New Fines & This Is What It’ll Cost You

The Beirut Municipality has announced new fines to curb disruptive and illegal behavior in the city. This is how much it’ll cost you if you find yourself breaking one of these violations:

20,000,000 LL ($223.50**):
  • Playing loud music *
  • Not picking up after your pet
  • Disposing of trash outside designated bins or areas
  • Writing, drawing, or anything equivalent (graffiti) on the walls of public places *
  • Placing commercial stickers and advertisements on the walls of public places *
  • Placing obstacles on roads and public sidewalks *
  • Digging through trash and dispersing it
  • Selling goods on sidewalks *
  • Illegally cutting trees *
  • Engaging in behavior that violates public morals
  • Displaying slogans or messages that could be deemed as inciting (against race, sect, etc)
30,000,000 LL ($335.20**):
  • Parking in a way that blocks traffic or access to public places
  • Operating a tuk-tuk
  • Driving motorcycles in the wrong direction of traffic or on sidewalks
